For our students who are public school teachers, and those parents of girls

Google is sponsoring a project of which a public school teacher can earn $100 for each female students who completed a JavaScript 101 class at online education site Khan Academy.

The introductory JavaScript course is really introductory.  I figure any third grader would be able to complete it in no time.  So, if you are a teacher, take action; if you are a parent of girls, spread the words to their teachers.  This sounds some easy contribution to the classroom.

pluto off campus access

Some students are having issues to access the pluto server from off campus locations.  If you are among them, please send your name (if possible your IP) to Mr. Crum (acrum@cs.hood.edu), our system manager.  It is possible that your ip is blocked somehow, and we need to look into it.

playing LEGO ..

I assume they are looking for an undergraduate student...

==
Hi,
My name is Chrétien and I work for a LEGO company called Play-well Tek. I came across the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology while looking through organizations at Hood College. We thought that your students might be interested in a job where you get to play with LEGO.  We are currently looking for a smart and dynamic individual to teach LEGO Engineering classes in the Montgomery county area. Our organization, Play-Well TEKnologies, uses LEGO to teach engineering concepts to students from Kindergarten through 6th grade.  Our mission is to build curiosity in engineering and architecture among future college students.

We recently posted a job near Hood College, but we thought that the best way to get the word out about this fun job is to contact school's & students directly.  If you know of any your students, in particular, who would be interested in introducing children to the world of engineering, gaining valuable teaching experience, and having fun while doing these things, please forward this email, share it on your listserv, or mention it at your next meeting.  The best part is that you don't have to be an engineer to apply.
Here is a link to our job posting:
Here is a YouTube video that explains what it is like to work at our organization:

Thanks for your time and have a great day!
