Visiting Research Specialist
Illinois Science Technology Engineering Mathematics Education Initiative (I-STEM)

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has an opening for a Visiting Research Specialist with the Illinois Science Technology Engineering Mathematics Education Initiative (I-STEM). This position is a 100% full-time, benefits-eligible Academic Professional position.  Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The individual in this position is responsible for planning and conducting data collection, analysis and reporting for the independent evaluation of the Blue Waters Community Engagement Project and other related projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct observations, direct assessments, interviews and surveys with Blue Waters participants and other key stakeholders.
  • Draft literature reviews, interim and final reports and other documents for the evaluation as well as assist with grant writing and other duties as assigned.
  • Schedule, prepare materials, and attend meetings with the Blue Waters leadership team as well as assist with the coordination of other education, training outreach events.
  • Provide direction and/or instruction to the student workers assisting with the evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with writing contract/grant proposals and presentations as well as composing, editing, integrating information, making decisions and attaining results.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Education or a related field
  • Experience in evaluation and research methodology and qualitative data analysis.
